Vijaya Dashmi

Here comes the most awaited festival and celebration. It is one of the grand festivals of India Dussehra also known as Vijaya Dashmi. It is the celebration of Hindu Goddess Durga who has many names such as Bhavani, Amba, Chandika, Gauri, Parvati, Mahishasuramardini which is mostly famous in West Bengal. She is the Mother goddess’ and the ‘Protector of the Righteous’ to Hindu devotees. In the northern and southern states, it implies the victory of Lord Ram over Ravana. Specifically in northern India it is celebrated as Navratri(nine nights) and the last four days of Maha Saptami, Maha Ashtami, Maha Navami and Vijay Dashami are mostly important. It is a celebration of divine feminine power and victory over the evil demon ‘Mahishasura’ who was blessed not to be defeated by any man or God.
